Android 4.4 KitKat update for Galaxy S4Mini, S3 Mini, Ace 3 and other mid-rangers“under investigation”

Samsung may be already considering updating a variety of mid-range Galaxy handsets to Android
4.4 KitKat , a new report says. Sam Mobile has apparently obtained a Samsung
document that says the KRT16 update is “under investigation for mid-range devices,” although
nothing is official just yet. The list in the image above contains several
Galaxy handsets including the Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy S3 Mini, Galaxy Ace 3, Galaxy S Advance,
Galaxy Ace 2, Galaxy Core, Galaxy Fame and Galaxy Fresh. The list may contain additional
devices, but they haven’t been captured in the photo. Considering that Samsung has a plethora of mid-range Galaxy handsets, we’re not surprised to see some of the smartphones above on a short list for the KitKat update, assuming the image is based on an actual Samsung document. After all, with
KitKat Google wants to have as many devices upgraded to the latest Android version, and
Samsung is probably also interested to offer customers a better Android experience, at least to
some extent. Of the devices above, we’ll note that the Galaxy
Fame and Fresh only have 512MB of RAM, which is the minimum requirement for Android 4.4.
We’ll be back with more news about KitKat updates for Samsung devices in the near future,
as we wait for the Galaxy device maker to publicly announce upgrade plans. So far only
Motorola has confirmed KitKat upgrade plans for non-flagship, older devices.
I am just hoping that Samsung will give us a bit of a stock android experience.
